Marysville
Known for its historical connection with John Sutter and the Gold Rush, Marysville was actually named after Mary Murphy Collivaud, the wife of a prominent founder and notably a survivor of the infamous Donner Party. The first mayor was elected the same year the town was incorporated in 1851. Prosperity was booming in Marysville in 1857 due to its relative location to the famous Gold Rush fields.
That growth reached a plateau, however, in the 1990 census at 12,324. Every census since that time has shown a decrease in population. It’s possible that the city might have continued to grow, if it had not expelled its significant Chinese-American population in 1886.
Diminishing OpportunitiesThe lack of opportunities in a community can lead to apathy and carelessness. Sometimes apathy causes people to make bad choices, such as driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
If you’ve been pulled over by the police on suspicion of a DUI, there are a few things you need to know. You should try as much as possible to cooperate with the officers, and at all times be respectful. While you do need to answer questions about your identity and home address, you do not have to answer any additional questions. Anything you say may be used to incriminate you later on.
In addition, you have the right to refuse a field sobriety test up until the point when you are under arrest. Once you have been taken into custody you do become obligated to submit to blood or breath testing.
What to Do Immediately After a DUI ArrestIf you’ve been arrested on a DUI charge, there is a short amount of time to respond to preserve your right to drive. If an officer takes your license in Marysville after a DUI stop, you should receive a temporary license that is valid for 30 days. If you do not wish to have your license suspended after that time, you need to request a hearing with the DMV within ten days.
When facing a DUI charge in Marysville or elsewhere in Northern California, it is important to engage the services of a professional and experienced attorney – and there is no time to waste.
